If it's 'Invisible' then how come I can see it???

Castor from Toronto has created this Invisible Chandelier as a homage to recycling and lighting extravagance--its made with burned-out light bulbs surrounding the actual light source: a fluorescent strip light. I think I like it, but I am a little worried one of the bulbs might hit me on the head as I walk under it... :)

They also created this one:
which is alot of fluorescent tube lights banded together...what do you think?

Will Mushrooms Inherit the Earth?

I just watched a talk on TED. com:  6 ways Mushrooms Can Save the World  this afternoon

This talk reminded me alot of this poem I read in high school, my teacher had explained to us that in the event of a nuclear disaster that one of the only things that would survive were mushrooms... I know that sounds depressing...but it is pretty interesting to know what we put in our salads can actually save the world! :)

Here's the poem just for kicks..

Mushrooms

Overnight, very
Whitely, discreetly,
Very quietly

Our toes, our noses
Take hold on the loam,
Acquire the air.

Nobody sees us,
Stops us, betrays us;
The small grains make room.

Soft fists insist on
Heaving the needles,
The leafy bedding,

Even the paving.
Our hammers, our rams,
Earless and eyeless,

Perfectly voiceless,
Widen the crannies,
Shoulder through holes. We

Diet on water,
On crumbs of shadow,
Bland-mannered, asking

Little or nothing.
So many of us!
So many of us!

We are shelves, we are
Tables, we are meek,
We are edible,

Nudgers and shovers
In spite of ourselves.
Our kind multiplies:

We shall by morning
Inherit the earth.
Our foot's in the door.

Lighting

Just wanted to add some spectacular lighting to check out. The one on top is called the Cora Light, the one in the middle is the Magdalena Light and the bottom image is the Big Bang Chandelier (all can be found on ylighting.com)

Stairways

I was looking for some images of steel stairs for work this week and came across some wonderful (not necessarily safe) examples of stairs...

Hello - My first post on this blog

My friend passed me an email today, the kind that involves sending it to 8 of my friends afterward.
I figured I would do better, post it on my blog and anyone interested may get a little inspiration from her quote, here it is:

"May today there  be peace within. May you  trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget  the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.  May you use the  gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are.  Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom  to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of  us."
